Castle Approach
Property Photography
Interior photography is a specialism of mine, having worked with numerous private estates, hotels, lettings and estate agents over the past ten years.
I was contacted by the owner of a luxury private residence in the Castle Approach Estate in Tregenna. They were looking to turn their property into a holiday rental and wanted a portfolio of images that could be used for marketing. The property was a very large building and required a professional photographer in order to showcase it successfully
Whenever I photograph properties, I aim to keep my diary as flexible as possible because you always want good weather conditions and optimal lighting for these shoots. The dates also need to synchronise with any property maintenance, refurbishments and current tenants. In this instance we moved dates to allow for the arrival of some new furnishings and with the forecast for a sunny afternoon
The property had some spacious open plan areas with numerous skylights and a spectacular floor-to-ceiling lawn-facing feature window. The rooms were light and airy with clean, smart décor and I brought numerous props with me to help dress rooms and spaces, such as items of clothing, flowers, books, children’s toys, food and drink. This all helps towards potential clients imagining themselves staying in the property, relaxing and admiring the views over breakfast.
Property Photography at Sunset
As part of my interiors package, I offer additional sunset photography which my client also took up. Having spent the day photographing each of the rooms, I returned to the property as the sun went down and utilised the feature window for a beautiful interior sunset view. Externally I was able to use the glass to reflect the dusky golden sky which, combined with the room lighting, creates an enticing view of this luxury property.
With interior photography shoots there is often post-production editing involved to balance lighting, which was the case here for the sunset photography and some of the day shots depending on the angle of the sun.
I also had some additional cosmetic edits to make. Parts of the lawn were in the process of being reseeded and so I edited the grass to boost the younger areas and balance them with the mature lawn. I was also required to impose signage onto the side of the house as it had arrived but not been fixed in place. I photographed the sign separately and then edited it into the shot in the correct place and dimensions, as directed by the owner.
