Dior Summer Event Photography

I was contacted by Carbis Bay Hotel to capture elements of the summer summit they were hosting for members of the Dior management teams. The event would bring together colleagues from across the Dior brand including, Miss Dior, Dior Homme, J’adore Dior, and Dior Sauvage sales teams, in a range of activities across the hotel. From meetings and conferences in its corporate spaces, to team building exercises and party games on the beach front, the event would culminate with drinks and alfresco fine dining on the hotel promenade.

My brief was to capture the hotel spaces in their final set up before guests’ arrival, followed by reportage photography of the drinks and dinner. For these commissions, timing is key. Working through the schedule with the client, we could coordinate which areas I could shoot in what order, and therefore figure out my own timeline for capturing content.

I began by photographing the Beach Club which was going to be used for corporate meetings. These shots would provide Carbis Bay Hotel with material to showcase the commercial use of this space, and the kind of luxury brands they attract for corporate summit meetings. Within my imagery, I captured the staging and projection screens for presentation purposes, alongside the full seating layout to showcase how many people the space can comfortably host for corporate conference events. I also wanted to include the beach style décor and furnishings and sea views, that make it a very unique meeting space.

After photographing the Beach Club I headed to the hotel’s pool area, where drinks would be served. Hotel staff were prepping food areas and there were unique branding focal points I could capture before guests arrived. A large porcelain giraffe and tiger covered in Dior print were positioned around the outdoor area, along with a range of Dior branded signage and lettering. Large metallic lettering spelling DIOR had been placed overlooking the pool which gave me an excellent opportunity to capture the reflection on the water with the sea just metres away in the background. The images are completely aligned with Dior’s luxury brand status and a standout focal point for the event.

As guests arrived for the evening I undertook reportage photography of the event, including the singers and musician Dan Tolman playing saxophone. I captured waiting staff in branded Dior aprons serving food and drinks, alongside guests enjoying themselves at the photobooth and around the pool. I incorporated as much of the Dior branding as possible, from a variety of signage, to perfumes and stationery on the table set ups to highlight the exclusivity of the event.

I continued shooting throughout the evening and well into sundown to show the warm atmosphere and brilliant location. Knowing that Cornwall was a unique destination location for the Dior brand, I wanted to give a strong sense of location throughout. I made sure that a lot of photographs included the light sandy beach and surrounding headlands of the bay. In some of my more distant shots you can see just how close the incoming tide is to the alfresco dining.

My final gallery showcases how Carbis Bay Hotel is a sensational location for a global luxury brand such as Dior to get a taste of Cornwall, and to entice similar brands to make use of the hotel’s incredible hospitality.
