The Playground Years Documentary Film Screening at Cornish Slates

I am excited to announce that The Playground Years, a short film I produced, filmed and edited, will be screened at this year’s Cornish Slate film event on Thursday 25 April 2019 at The Poly in Falmouth.

Cornish Slates is a 90-minute programme of selected short films produced in Cornwall, showcasing film makers and creatives working in the county. It is a free event and tickets can be booked via Eventbrite.

The Playground Years is a short documentary focussing on the childhood memories of local people growing up in the small village of Illogan in West Cornwall between the 1940s to 1970s, who attended Illogan Primary School. In 2014 a National Lottery funded charity project The Old School Centre Charity, began in earnest to piece together the school’s history using the memories and archive materials of former pupils and staff.

This film is a series of touching, interesting, humorous interviews stepping back in time and gathering memories and anecdotes. We completed filming in July 2018 with the help of local villagers and current pupils of Illogan Primary School.
