Carbis Bay Hotel: Restaurant 1894 Launch Event

I was commissioned by Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate to photograph the launch of their newest restaurant, 1894.

The launch was a prestigious event with more than a hundred guests who had been specially invited to tour the new 1894 restaurant space and sample its menu. Described as the jewel in the crown of the Carbis Bay estate, 1894 places itself firmly on the map as one of Cornwall’s top fine-dining destinations.

The attention to detail for this event was exceptional. The restaurant is sea-facing and right on the beach front, so a sea-theme was a natural and obvious choice for the evening’s celebrations, and gave me many focal points to capture.

Ornate white chairs inspired by coral, circled majestic statuesque floral displays that made up the stunning table arrangements. There was also a towering golden display of hundreds of glass champagne flutes.

One of the stars of the evening was an incredible life-like blue lobster cake that was specially commissioned for the launch. The cake caught the attention of Channel 5 TV programme ‘Wonderful World of Cake’ and I’m pleased that some of my videography from the evening made it into final edit of the episode which aired in January 2021.
